Agnes Gawlik was born in Katowice, Poland. She finished school at the age of 19 with Abitur (A Levels) and was immediately offered an apprenticeship at the couture tailor Elise Topell, a master in the technical construction of clothing, in Wiesbaden, Germany. There she mastered pattern cutting and the couture technique. Aged 22 she moved to Hamburg where she continued her studies.

There she studied textile, fashion and costume design and successfully took part in many fashion shows, exhibitions and competitions. Two years later Agnes G. was offered a grant from the Leonardo-da-Vinci program for successful results in studying. She travelled to London, where she worked for the famous British designer Julien MacDonald and then for Alexander McQueen, one of the most famous and respected international fashion designers in the world.

She finally returned to Hamburg in 2004 where she completed a Masters Diploma degree in Fashion Design at the University for Applied Sciences. Her degree collection "Cruising Bollywood Beauty" was awarded, in its entirety, a grade A. Since leaving the university where she studied Fashion Design, she has become a popular fashion designer working for big labels such as ESCADA or Gucci.

Agnes G's own collections are known for both the emotional power and raw energy of her shows as well as the romantic but determinedly contemporary nature of these clothes. It is typical of Agnes G. to mix the cultures or contrasting elements; Asian and European culture or tradition and modernity. Agnes G's collections combine an in-depth working knowledge of German and Asian tailoring, the fine workmanship of the French Haute Couture atelier and the impeccable finish of Italian manufacturing.
